Salcombe-based company, Whitestrand Boat Hire, has reopened under new management.
The newly revamped business was officially declared open for trade on Good Friday. The shop has had a complete refit and five new boats have been added to the existing fleet.
Company director, Chris Turns, who has worked on the Salcombe estuary for the past twenty years said:
“This is a really exciting venture for all of us. I remember working on the hire boats as a teenager and to now run the business is a fantastic opportunity. We want to keep local values high up on our list of priorities – making the most of local staff who know the estuary like the back of their hands, so we can give the best service.”
Nine different types of vessel, from motorised boats to sailing dinghies and canoes, are now available to hire via the shop at Whitestrand Quay.
Co-Director, Anne McArthur, whose husband Jerry competes in the Honda Powerboat series for Salcombe Racing, will help run the boat hire throughout the season.
